A number of up-and -coming Wookies also rumored for young Chewbacca.
Even though the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film is a couple of years off, it looks like Disney and Lucasfilm are close to deciding who will play a younger version of a certain Rebellion General/smuggler/nerf herder.
Variety reports that the shortlist (10 or so potential candidates) of actors up for the role of Han Solo has been decided.
Spearheading the list are Miles Teller (Whiplash), and Dave Franco (Neighbors). Other high-profile actors named are Logan Lerman (Fury), Ancel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride).
Additionally, two lesser-known stars on the list are Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond the Pines), and Blake Jenner (Glee).
Sorry Aaron.
According to Variety’s sources, these actors will begin to meet with series producer Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for screen tests soon, with a final decision in the coming weeks.
Although the spinoff film will not release until 2018, apparently the rush to find a young Solo is due to a potential cameo the smuggler may have in the upcoming Rogue One, which is currently filming.
Lucasfilm and Disney have yet to official confirm if this shortlist of actors is legitimate, but even so, this is an interesting group of talented young actors.
We’ll never forget his involvement in Fant4stic (and probably neither will he), but Miles Teller has proven himself a capable actor in Whiplash and The Spectacular Now.
Dave Franco may not have many critically acclaimed performances under his belt, but he has worked with Phil Lord and Chris Miller before in the Jump Street films.
The other candidates would all probably make great little Solo’s too. Logan Lerman, for example, has impressed us in both Fury and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Notably absent from this list however, is Anthony Ingruber. The 25-year-old actor looks and sounds exactly like a young Harrison Ford, having even played the younger version of Ford’s character in The Age of Adaline. He even does a pretty good Han impression.
Come on Disney, throw Ingruber a bone.
The Untitled Han Solo Anthology film will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
