Concept Art of Sith Obi-Wan Kenobi, Scrapped Idea from ‘Battlefront 3’

Old Ben Kenobi would have turned to the darkside in the canceled Battlefront sequel.

Very soon, we will finally be able to play Star Wars Battlefront, the long-awaited successor to the PS2 and Xbox era game series of the same name.

However, did you know that a proper sequel to 2005’s Battlefront II was in development prior to the game releasing next month?

Yes, a true Battlefront III almost happened. The game was apparently in development from 2006-2008 by Free Radical Design, but the project was canceled despite nearly being completed.

Since its cancellation, a plethora of leaked material related to Battlefront III have emerged online, and most recently, concept art of a certain fallen Jedi Knight.

Reddit user themightyheptagon has posted artwork of a Sith version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who would apparently be playable in the canned game. Check it out below.

As evident from the “Free Radical” watermark, these images appear to be legitimate, and awesome.

The second image in particular is very jarring and unsettling, considering the physically corrupted body mixed with the likeness of Sir Alec Guinness, and that sick beard.

While there is no information to say otherwise, it can be assumed that Dark Obi-Wan would have been playable similarly to the other heroes and villains in Battlefront II, where capturing many command posts and earning points rewarded the player with the choice of playing as a famous character. Ahh…the memories.

And, as we’re sure you know, Star Wars Battlefront will come to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17.
