[dropcap size=small]J[/dropcap]osh Gad has made quite the name for himself ever since he played the voice of Olaf in Disney’s animated box office hit Frozen back in Novemer of 2013. He recently starred in Sony’s action/comedy Pixels that was released several weeks ago and he just finished working on Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. Now the actor is working along side Will Ferrell in the comedy Russ & Roger.
Russ & Rogers is about the director Russ Meyer and his friend Roger Ebert, who ignored the standards of Hollywood and created one of the first X-rated films ever released by a major studio. Will Ferrell’s character Russ Meyer is a director who created the movies Wild Gals of the Naked West and Faster Pussycat! Kill Kill! before he landed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox. The studio was impressed by how the director handled budgeting his films and decided sign him on.
One of Russ Meyer’s first movies was Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. The film did sit well with the censors but it turned out to be a classic in the 1970s. Roger Ebert wrote the script for the film with Russ Meyer and he was just a film critic at the time. From here on out the duo shook things up at Twentieth Century Fox while defying the ratings tribunal.
