Everybody put on your Servbot heads, a Dead Rising movie is coming.
Capcom’s comically violent zombie franchise will be adapted for the screen by Legendary Digital Media, an offset division of Legendary Pictures (Godzilla). This will be the first cinematic effort by the studio, but with producer Tomas Harlan, director Tim Carter, and executive producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe) behind the project it sounds very promising.
According to the press release:
“Dead Rising takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic — with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy.”
No word on cast or a potential release date yet. However, we do know that rather than being released in theaters, Dead Rising will be released via Sony’s streaming app Crackle.
Now we finally have a reason to unhide that app on our Apple TV, Playstation, Xbox, virtually any mobile device and Smart TV, Roku, and Chromecast.
