[dropcap size=small]R[/dropcap]ecently, Sony announced that it was placing the Aaron Sorkin scripted biopic on Steve Jobs ‘in turnaround’. To the layperson like myself, this means that Sony is not going forward with production and is putting the project up for sale to any other studio wishing to purchase it. Luckily for Sorkin, Universal bought the rights to the project almost instantly and has moved ahead with casting and making a b-line for hard production.
In the ever continuing drama that is ‘Who will play Steve Jobs?” there is another development. It appears that the highly talented Michael Fassbender is signed on to play the tech/retail genius. There is no doubt that Fassbender as the acting chops to do the role justice, but the makeup department may have their work cut out for themselves.
What do you think about this decision? Is Fassbender a good fit for the role? Why is this project plagued by problems? Especially when Aaron Sorkin has practically NEVER written a bad script (A Few Good Men, Charlie Wilson’s War, The West Wing, Newsroom). Let us know in the comments!
