#OldManLoganConfirmed
More details on the upcoming third Wolverine standalone film have been uncovered; specifically, when the movie will take place.
X-Men franchise producer Simon Kinberg recently sat down with CinemaBlend to talk on the series as a whole, but he also briefly addressed how the new Wolverine film will fit into the greater (and confusing) X-Men continuity.
He confirmed that Wolverine 3 will be set in the future.
Also reconfirmed was the appearance of Patrick Stewart, who will once again reprise his role of Professor Charles Xavier, who will be featured prominently in the film.
The film’s futuristic setting and prominent use of Professor X all but confirm that the film will heavily draw from the Old Man Logan comic storyline.
In Old Man Logan, set in an apocalyptic future, the United States have been conquered by villains, and an elderly Logan (no longer using the Wolverine name) joins Hawkeye on cross-country quest.
If the film does draw influence Old Man Logan, there are many obvious changes that will need to be made. Numerous Marvel character not owned by Fox, like Hawkeye and Hulk, are featured in the comic, so perhaps the story will be streamlined to just X-Men characters, with Professor X filling in for Hawkeye.
Official confirmation that the film will be directly inspired by Old Man Logan hasn’t been made yet; plus, the film will reportedly be Hugh Jackman’s last appearance as Wolverine, so maybe the story will blend multiple comic storylines, including the recent Death of Wolverine.
My last time putting on the claws. What do you want to see happen? 50 words or less. I'll read as many as I can. pic.twitter.com/ksA1Gii5tf

Regardless, we can’t wait for final Jackman’s final outing as Logan. Old or not.
Wolverine 3 hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
