[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]ne of the biggest questions that many Doctor Who fans had last season was if Jenna Coleman was going to leave the show at the end of the season finale/the Christmas special. As we all know, Jenna Coleman made an announcement to leave the show last year in October, but decided to stay on after reading the script for the Christmas special. But now new rumors are surfacing that the actress may be leaving at the end of this upcoming season.
Right now, Jenna Coleman is the longest-running companion of modern Doctor Who since the show was revived back in 2005. She first appeared in the series back in 2012 where she played the character Owsin Oswald, who saves the Doctor’s life but dies inside a Dalek. Since then she has been the companion for both Matt Smith’s Doctor and Peter Capaldi’s. In a recent Q&A conference that took place earlier this year she explained her reasoning for why she decided to stay.
“I couldn’t walk away with the story being unresolved, there’s so much more to do and I think Clara and the Doctor have finally just reached a point where they really understand each other.”
Could it be that Jenna Coleman decided that she only wanted to be around for one more season? No one knows for sure. The actress appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011 and according to several reports, the role she played in the film sparked her interests in switching from starring in television series to movies instead.
Peter Capaldi’s response to the rumor that Jenna Coleman may be leaving Doctor Who after this next season was:
