Trading Will Come to Pokemon GO in a Future Update

Wish you could trade your 984 CP Electrobuzz for your favorite Pokemon? That could be possible in the future.

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]s Pokemon GO great? Yes. Is it perfect? Well, no, but Niantic surely is doing their best to make the augmented reality game as perfect as they can. If you have already downloaded Pokemon GO and spent several hours walking around your neighborhood trying to catch Pokemon or take back your local gym from Team Instinct for your team, you may have noticed that the app has several features missing from it that previous Pokemon games offered. One feature that you may have noticed that is missing is the ability to trade Pokemon that you have captured with your friend’s Pokemon.

In a recent interview with Game Informer Niantic Labs’ CEO John Hanke discussed the option of trading Pokemon in a future update.

“So, in the area of things that we are interested in continuing to, well, there’s a wide variety of things that we want to do in the game, things on our roadmap, but in the near term, trading is something that’s not in the game right now that we’re committed to adding to the game. So that will be I think fairly soon in the future.”

What John Hanke describes as “fairly soon in the future” doesn’t necessarily mean that Niantic will roll out an update for the app sometime this week or next that will include the option of trading Pokemon, but it is a comforting reminder that the company plans on shaping Pokemon GO into an outstanding app for players of all ages to enjoy.

It is important to point out that while Pokemon GO has had several issues since it was released in the United States and elsewhere Niantic has been committed to the goal of releasing updates for the game bi-weekly. No game that is newly released is absolutely perfect and thus patches and updates are required to fine tune and add new features to keep players happy and committed to playing. So if you’re upset that you can’t use a repel to get rid of those annoying Pidgeys that seem to be absolutely everywhere in hopes of finding just a Pikachu, there is a possibility that Niantic may release that feature in a future update.
