Deadpool stays on top, but the newcomers start strong.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Merc with a Mouth stayed on top for the third week in a row at the box office. Deadpool grossed $31.1M this week and is now up to a total gross of $285.3M. Deadpool has broken all R-Rated movie records with the passing of Passion of the Christ to over take the spot of the highest grossing R-Rated film.
Gods of Egypt opened second this weekend gross $14.1M. Other newcomers, Triple 9 and Eddie the Eagle both opened at $6.1M and came in tied for fifth.
This upcoming week has a few big movies hitting the big screen. 10 Cloverfield Lane, the mysterious sequel to Cloverfield, the new Sacha Baron Cohen film, The Brothers Grimsby, and Eye in the Sky, an upcoming film about drone warfare. 10 Cloverfield Lane should have a strong opening and may be enough to finally take down Deadpool but we will have to wait and see.
