[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he kid gloves are coming off for The Expendables 4 — that is, if Sylvester Stallone gets his way.
Stallone revealed in an interview with CraveOnline that the decision to make The Expendables 3 a PG-13 film was a big mistake.
The Blu-ray for The Expendables 3 includes an unrated version of the film, and when asked if future installments of the franchise should be R-rated to begin with, Stallone had this to say:
[dropcap size=small]“[/dropcap]Absolutely unequivocally yes. I believe it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone’s part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I’m quite certain it won’t happen again.”
The first two installments in the Expendables franchise were rated R for “strong bloody violence throughout.”
While a lot Hollywood “suits” are involved in deciding what MPAA rating to pursue, it’s highly likely The Expendables 4 see a return to the franchise’s R-rated violence — because that’s what Stallone wants, and Stallone always gets what he wants. Always.
