A “set photo” posted on Reddit may hint at what Stark will be getting up to in Homecoming.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]hanks to the pair’s history in the world of the comics, it was pretty much a given that we’d see Spider-Man and Tony Stark together in the MCU at some point.
So after Captain America: Civil War introduced the new webslinger into the Marvel fold on Stark’s side of the conflict, we already began to wonder if, and how, Tony may pop up in Spider-Man’s first standalone movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
When Robert Downey Jr.’s name was officially attached to the project, one question was answered. But the question of what Stark will be doing in Homecoming still remains up in the air.
*POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD*
Marvel is obviously keeping the plot of the film largely under wraps, but a photo has surfaced on Reddit (via CinemaBlend) that may offer some explanation as to what Stark will get up to.
Reddit user EduardoTaquitoHands posted the aforementioned photo claiming to be from the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming (currently shooting in New York). The “set picture” could possibly indicate that Stark may be around to do some presenting, since it shows flyers plastered to a wall advertising the “Stark World Expo.”

The date on the flyers indicates the Expo will take place from the 10.17 – 10. 27 2018, which would put the date of the film a year later than its actual release date in the timeline.
However, the flyers could very well just be advertising the event in Homecoming for it to then take place in another Marvel title. It’s also worth mentioning that since it hasn’t been confirmed either way that this photo is in fact from the set, it might not actually happen during Spider-Man’s solo film.
Regardless of whether it occurs in Homecoming or not, it will surely be on Stark’s mind in the midst of Spidey’s adventures, so we may at the very least hear mention of the Expo during the film.
Whilst this may offer a little insight into Stark’s goings on in the upcoming movie, it’s very unlikely that it’s the only reason he’s appearing. Heroic Hollywood spread word on the rumour mill back in August that the film may see the appearance of The Tinkerer – a Marvel villain who was once in the employ of Stark Industries. If true, this would naturally link back to Tony, who would no doubt be involved in some way given the villain’s past ties to his company.
Irrespective of what he gets up to, we can’t wait to see Stark join Parker on the big screens again next year – in what will no doubt be a great reintroduction to our favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is due for release 7 July, 2017.
