A lot has been happening over at Sony in regards to the wall-crawler’s potential future. After Roberto Orci announced he was leaving the project to go work on a reboot/continuation of The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (we are equally as excited as we are disappointed), to Amazing Spidey 3 being pushed back, to trying to figure out who is going to direct Sinister 6, as well as the potential Venom spinoff, it just seemed to us like Sony’s cinematic boat may have a couple of leaks in it. While, this all may truly be the case, at least now we have a release date for both The Amazing Spider-Man 3, and Sinister 6.
The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which was originally intended to be released on June 10, 2016, will now be released TBD 2018. This is extremely unfortunate for the fans and the cast and crew, as its now looking like Spidey 3 will release closer to when The Amazing Spidey 4 was set to release. Sinister 6, on the other hand, is set to release, before we see Spider-Man return in a sequel, in November of 2016, though it is possible that Spider-Man will make an appearance in Sinister 6, as they are all primary villains in the web-slinger’s franchise.
While we all hope and pray that things get reshuffled and reorganized for the benefit of seeing the original cast return (they can only look like teenagers for so long), it seems rather grim the more we hear about Sony’s schedule. But as always, when we know more, we’ll be the first to let you know.
Drew Goddard is set to direct the Sinister 6, with no official casting of yet. The movie is set to release in November 11, 2016.
Marc Webb is so far set to return to direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is currently slated TBD 2018. Yikes.
