First it was Shanghai Noon, then they were Shanghai Knights, and now, you guessed it…
[dropcap size=small]It[/dropcap]s been 12 years, but Jackie Chan, and Owen Wilson are set to appear Shanghai Dawn, the third installment in the action-comedy series. Jonathan Glickman will be overseeing the project on behalf of the studio, and a writer has yet to be announced.
Shanghai Noon, the first film in the series was a western comedy, based on the relationship between an ex-imperial guard and a small-time robber with huge dreams. This unlikely duo went on to save a kidnapped princess. Shanghai Noon was well-received, and seemed to ride on the heels of Jackie Chan’s other buddy-comedy movie, Rush Hour. The same can’t be said for the sequel, Shanghai Knights, which received poor reviews from critics and fans of the original.
Combined, both films made around $185+ million at the Box Office, definitely not Age of Ultron numbers, but it was good enough for a sequel.
There is currently no word on when filming for Shanghai Dawn will begin, and no word on an official release at this time.
