Harry Potter meets Inception meets Marvel, in this intense tease for the upcoming film about Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme!

Perhaps one of the most unusual (dare we say “strange”?) characters to grace his presence in the MCU, is Steven Strange- the most powerful Sorcerer in the known universe. Whether or not you are familiar with the characters history, dating back to 1963 in the character’s first debut in Strange Tales, Doctor Strange has gone on to earn himself the respect of comic fans on global scale, earning the right to be considered one of the greatest comic characters of all time, having IGN’s Top 50 Avenger’s list at #33. That may not sound like much, but considering nearly every major comic hero (and villain) has joined the Avenger’s at some point or another, Doctor Strange stands tall as being one character to make note of.

The teaser trailer below is comprised of visuals you may relate to films such as Inception, which shows a collapsing and expanding world-within-worlds perspective. Take a look for yourself!

After Stephen Strange, the world’s top neurosurgeon, is injured in a car accident that ruins his career, he sets out on a journey of healing, where he encounters the Ancient One, who later becomes Strange’s mentor in the mystic arts.

The trailer, while just a teaser, sets the tone for a film unlike any other we have seen within the Marvel universe thus far- Thor being the standout among such origins as Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America. Though Thor introduces us to another world, mixing magic and science (and a really sweet Rainbow Bridge), Doctor Strange is earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, which provides him the heavy burden of keeping our planet safe from mystical and magical threats. Basically, once Strange joins the Avengers in later Marvel phases, the world will like turn upside down.

In any case, we won’t have too long to wait to see Benedict Cumberbatch deliver what will likely be on heck of a performance and addition to the MCU this fall, and we can’t wait to see just how this character fits in with the rest of the bunch prior to the multi-part Infinity War films.

Doctor Strange is slated for a November 4, 2016 release and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson (Hellraiser: Inferno, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister — you get the picture).
