Yesterday, director Edgar Wright and partner Netflix announced that the live-action cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010), including Michael Cera in the lead, will be returning to their respective roles in an upcoming computer-animated anime series coming to the streaming giant. No reveals of the art style were shown but the official announcement below reveals the core cast from the 2010 film are indeed coming back.

Take a look:

Michael Cera – Scott Pilgrim
Mary Elizabeth Winstead – Ramona Flowers
Kieran Culkin – Wallace Wells
Satya Bhabha – Matthew Patel
Chris Evans – Lucas Lee
Anna Kendrick – Stacey Pilgrim
Brie Larson – Envy Adams
Alison Pill – Kim Pine
Aubrey Plaza – Julie Powers
Brandon Routh – Todd Ingram
Jason Schwartzman – Gideon Graves
Johnny Simmons – Young Neil
Mark Webber – Stephen Stills
Mae Whitman – Roxie Richter
Ellen Wong – Knives Chau

The studio behind the upcoming computer-animated anime project is Science SARU (DEVILMAN crybaby, Adventure Time Food Chain, Adventure Time OP, and a lot more), who will no doubt bring their unique and vibrant art style to such an already bright and lively world.

It has been a long time since Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was released in theaters- more than 12 years ago, in fact. At that time, the marketing was everywhere as Edgar Wright’s take on the classic graphic novel/comic came to life in a bright, breathtaking way. But despite the film’s all-star cast, superb writing, and incredible presentation, the film didn’t do so hot at the box office, leaving bright-eyed hopefuls that were wishing to see a sequel, very disappointed. And now, all these years later, the film has amassed a cult-like following as well as significant praise for its remarkable flash and tone.

No release window was provided in the announcement but later is better than never. Director Edgar Wright is returning as an executive director along with Scott Pilgrim artist Bendavid Grabinski and author Bryan Lee O’Malley serving as executive producers as well as writers. O’Malley and Grabinski will serve as show runner for the series as well.
