The Avengers team used to be a toss-up between Thor and Hulk for the strongest member. However, it was later stated by Kevin Fiege, the Marve Studios President and architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that Captain Marvel is the strongest character in all the MCU. However, it seems he had a change of heart and stated that the Scarlet Witch is actually more powerful.

During a Q&A session with the NY Film Academy, Kevin Fiege stated that Scarlet Witch is indeed the most powerful character within the MCU… currently.

The panel where this was addressed had begun with a very simple question from a curious audience member who asked just who is the “strongest Marvel Hero” was, as of Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Here is how Kevin Fiege chose to answer the question:

“If you look at Endgame, Wanda Maximoff was going to kill Thanos. that’s as scared as I’ve ever seen Thanos. And if he hadn’t said, ‘Decimate my entire team to get her off of me,’ I think she would’ve done it.”

This wasn’t the first time that Fiege suggested that Wanda Maximoff was the strongest character in the MCU. Back in 2019 during SDCC, Fiege stated that Wanda could beat Thanos in a one-on-one fight. Of course, throughout all the battles with Thanos, there was so much chaos and action going on, no single hero fought Thanos long enough to tell who would win. Though, to be fair, Thanos showed that he could best the majority of the Avengers in a one-on-many battle under a variety of chaotic circumstances. That being said, if Wanda is indeed this strong, it is safe to say she has not yet fully realized her full potential.

Played by Elizabeth Olsen, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch made her first appearance in Age of Ultron. She went on to have a significant roll in Civil War as a major catalyst for the Sokovia Accords, and then became a sort of primary member of the Avengers ever since. We next will see her in a titular role in the Disney+ series Wandavision and then a co-starring role in the Doctor Strange sequel, Multiverse of Madness.
