If you’ve been waiting for the Merc with a Mouth to team up with Professor Xavier, now is the time to rejoice.
[dropcap size=small]H[/dropcap]as the director of X-Men: Apocalypse confirmed that a Deadpool/X-Men crossover will happen? It definitely seems so. During a press interview for his latest movie, director Bryan Singer was asked if the X-Men movies can compete with DC and Marvel’s. This question eventually led to the director bringing up Deadpool and how the anti-hero could enter the X-Men universe, albeit very carefully.
“It’s every bit as large,” answered Bryan Singer on the question of whether or not the X-Men films could compete with DC and Marvel films. “And now that we’ve altered the timeline [with X-Men: Days of Future Past], there are endless possibilities. If you take a character as irreverent and meta as Deadpool and connect him to something as grounded and serious as X-Men, you have to do it carefully and gently. When you drop them them all in together it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there’s plenty of room to do it.”
The best course of action for Deadpool to enter the X-Men universe would be a xfilm that is completely dedicated to the X-Force, a specialized group of paramilitary mutants that Deadpool and Cable are a part of. Director Bryan Singer has gone on record as saying that he has repeatedly mentioned the idea of an X-Force movie to Fox Studios and Ryan Reynolds has called the project a “priority”, maybe that is enough for Fox Studios to give the project the greenlight? With Deadpool 2 currently in the works there is a high possibility that the merc with a mouth’s next film could be the necessary step towards introducing Deadpool to the X-Men.
