Will the Merc with a Mouth fight Weapon X on the big screen?Â
Thanks to the huge success of the first film, Ryan Reynolds is returning as Deadpool with a confirmed sequel in the works. However, we also know Reynolds wants his foul-mouthed chimichanga-loving anti-hero to pop up in a number of other X-Men related film projects like X-Force. Now, he’s campaigning for a crossover I’m sure we’d all like to see happen.Â
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds, who was named “Entertainer of the Year” by the publication, revealed he really wants a Wolverine x Deadpool film to happen.Â
“I want Deadpool and Wolverine in a movie together,” says Reynolds. “What we’re gonna have to do is convince Hugh. If anything, I’m going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line.”
Ryan, as your internet friends, trust us when we say we really want this to happen too, but there’s one big problem. Hugh Jackman, who has been portraying Wolverine on-screen for nearly 20 years, is done with the character. The upcoming film Logan is supposedly Jackman’s last outing as the iconic X-Men character, and based off the trailer, it looks like a fitting conclusion.
However, considering how botched the Fox X-Men film series timeline is, and if Jackman really wants to do it, we can see this definitely happening.Â
“Hugh Jackman is one of the best human beings,” continued Reynolds. “Part of the reason I want to do a Deadpool/Wolverine movie is not just because I think the two would light the screen on fire but I genuinely love the guy.”
Further proof we need them onscreen together.
We love Hugh Jackman, and we love Ryan Reynolds, so seeing the two alongside each other mutant or otherwise would be enough for us.Â
But make it happen, Ryan. (And internet friends.)
