Ryan Reynolds Says Deadpool Will Be His Last Comic Book Character

After a string of unsuccessful attempts, Deadpool will be Ryan Reynolds’s last chance to impress in a comic book movie.

[toggler title=”TL;DR” ]Ryan Reynolds has ‘no desire to play any other superheroes after [Deadpool],’ following his previous comic book movie outings.[/toggler]

[dropcap size=small]R[/dropcap]yan Reynolds is no stranger to superhero films. Before he was cast as the titular character in Marvel’s Deadpool (2016), he played Hannibal in Blade: Trinity, made a brief appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (as a different version of Deadpool) and he followed that up by starring as Hal Jordan in DC’s infamous Green Lantern attempt. But this week, Reynolds told Huffington Post that Deadpool will be his final comic book venture.

‘I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this. Hopefully we’ll get to do Deadpool again. Given the fact that it’s rated R, the fans have to show their support for it, and they have to make it worthwhile for the studio to make another one, but that’s it for me. I’ve punches that superhero card a few times now, and that’s enough.’

While it’s good that Reynolds has come out and confirmed it, this news will come as a surprise to no one, given that his other comic book movies have all gone down pretty badly. Green Lantern was especially panned, though just for the record, I really like that movie. I’ll fight you.

Deadpool is due to hit theaters on February 12th, 2016.
