[dropcap size=small]D[/dropcap]ue to a scheduling conflict with Star Trek 3, Roberto Orci has reportedly dropped out of the executive producer position for the Power Rangers reboot. The release date stands, however with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers still expected to hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
The movie, said to be a continuation in some form of the original Mighty Morphin’ storyline, will still pull off being a reboot of the classic series that started it all.
The script is to be written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who have worked on X-Men: First Class and Thor. Saban, creator of the series, will be producing with Brian Shearmur.
Jason David Frank is said to have an important role in the film, likely reprising the character of Tommy Oliver, better known as the Green Ranger, later the White Ranger (pictured above- he’s the white one), though nothing has been specifically confirmed. No further additional casting announcements or plot details have been shared at this time.
Expect more news as the story develops, as the movie is still in its infancy stages. The film hits theaters July 22, 2016.
