Robert Downey Jr. will produce the story of real-life con artist Phillip Kitzer Jr., with a view to starring as the Minnesota swindler.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]eam Downey, the production company which includes Robert Downey Jr, his wife Susan, and David Gambino, are working on a movie adaptation of David Howard’s ‘Chasing Phil: The World’s Greatest Con Man, Two Undercover FBI Agents, And Their Amazing Around The World Adventure’.
Warner Bros. secured the rights to adapt the book, and the studio also picked up the life rights of two real FBI agents, Jim Wedick and Jack Brennan.
The non-fiction book centers on the two agents as they attempt to infiltrate the world of Phillip Kitzer Jr., who carried out a number of high profile, multimillion-dollar schemes with a network of accomplices known as The Fraternity. It is thought that Downey, in addition to his producing role, will star as Kitzer, who will be tailored to suit Downey’s acting style should the Iron Man star agree to play the lead role.
Downey is currently filming Captain America: Civil War.
