“… … …”
If you haven’t already boarded the Pokémon Sun and Moon hype train, now’s the time.
In the same trailer that revealed the final evolutions for the new starters, it was also revealed that Red and Blue will be appearing in the Alola region.
Red was the Trainer avatar you played as in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow version, and Blue was your cocky rival (aka Gary “Steal Yo Girl” Oak). The characters now appear to be a few years older than they were 20 years ago.
These iconic trainers were revealed along with a new game mode called “The Battle Tree,” a special location where Pokémon League Champions can challenge and fight alongside each other. Challengers you will be able to face and team up with include Cynthia of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and Wally from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
Additionally, this means you can challenge both Blue and Red to a battle, so it’s time to relive the final boss fight from Pokémon Gold and Silver.
While the inclusion of these characters is no doubt another way of celebrating the franchise’s 20th anniversary (indicated by Red’s shirt displaying ’96), we absolutely love this idea, and we hope there are more surprises in store involving Red and Blue.
Like maybe going to Kanto in the postgame??????
