[dropcap size=small]E[/dropcap]ver since the Microsoft announced that they were going to integrate backwards compatibility with the Xbox One, Xbox One owners who still owned several Xbox 360 games have been scrambling to vote for their favourite games. Of the many games that were granted backwards compatibility, Red Dead Redemption has been one of the most highly requested games thus far.

This past weekend Red Dead Redemption was available for playability but in a strange course of events Microsoft retracted the game leaving many fans of the game quite upset and confused. Xbox Live’s director of programming apologised to Xbox One owners on Reddit

“Microsoft tests all Xbox 360 games with our emulator to ensure a quality experience across a breadth of titles. Due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available. We have since removed access to those games, and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We will have more information on upcoming releases soon.”

While many fans are upset with the news that Red Dead Redemption is no longer available, it should be noted that Microsoft has had a pretty good track record when it comes to the functionality of the backwards compatible games. Sure, everyone wants their favorite game to be available so they can relive the awesome moments over and over again, but you can’t expect Microsoft to be perfect. When Red Dead Redemption becomes available for backwards compatibility it will definitely be worth the wait, so hang in there fans, your game is coming.
