Nintendo and the Pokémon Company have unveiled the Japanese reveal trailer for the new 3DS game Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo.

The game features a talking Pikachu who has teamed up with a young boy to solve mysteries and drink coffee. Nintendo will be missing a golden opportunity if this doesn’t become a Saturday morning cartoon.
Gameplay won’t be like the average Pokémon title; rather this will be a “Cinematic Adventure Game” with puzzle-solving at the forefront.
We first learned of a potential talking Pikachu game when this creepy gif appeared online back in 2013.
As Pikachu makes very similar facial expressions from the gif in the trailer, be warned, the game may cause nightmares.
An English release date for Meitantei Pikachu: Shin Konbi Tanjyou (the Japanese title) has yet to be confirmed, but we’ll let you know when it is.
Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo hits the Japanese 3DS eShop on February 3.
