Youtube titan PewDiePie has disclosed his financial earning from last year and oh boy is it a hefty paycheck.

[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]ne of the biggest names on YouTube right now is PewDiePie. Almost everyone knows of Felix Kjellberg, better known as his online alias of YouTube hilarity, and of his insane amount of success over the past few years.

In 2014, Kjellberg earned over 45 million SEK, which is the currency in his home country of Sweden, which translates to roughly $7.5 million, according to his most recent financial documentation. Reported by Swedish newspaper Expressen, PewDiePie Productions AB, Kjeilber’s company, has been on the rise since 2012; the company is up from 29.6 million SEK since 2013 and 7.5 million SEK since 2012.

PewDiePie’s rise into stardom came in part from the popularity of his Lets Play videos. The videos consist of Kjellberg playing through a game and giving commentary on the gameplay that often includes outrageous reactions. His channel also includes sketch comedy shorts and collaborations with other big YouTubers like Smosh and Epic Rap Battles of History. Kjellberg has been featured in YouTube wide projects like Rewind-YouTube 2013 and 2014.

PewDiePie has around 37 million subscribers on YouTube and is generating upwards of $4 million in ad sales per year through the channel.

In an interview in 2014, Kjellberg was asked what he thought of the influence that he was having on the YouTube community and even the game developers. He said that his videos are not only just entertainment for the audience but aimed to encourage developers to make games that are not only exciting to play but also exciting for people to watch.

All this fame is unsettling to Kjellberg, who now has attention on him and videos almost 24/7. He says that, “I’m so central to YouTube now, and that puts me in the spotlight and raises a lot of questions like ‘Why is he so big?’ I’d much rather prefer to have something like 5 million subscribers.”

Though the rise to fame has not changed Kjellberg, he is still doing the same thing that he set out to do when he started PewDiePie: entertain people.
