Don’t expect to see a fat, tan Jason Bourne in the next Bourne film. Matt Damon is bringing the guns to the gun show.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he last time we saw Jason Bourne he had fallen into an icy, cold river and just as we thought he was gone for good Julia Stiles’ smile told us what we had hoped, Jason was alive and sure enough several seconds later he swam to…..what exactly? No one knows, at least, no one knows right now until the film is released. Luckily, director Paul Greengrass shared some details on what Jason Bourne has been up to since we last saw him, sort of.
“He’s been in the shadows of Europe. He’s been active and he’s been doing hard physical work,” said director Paul Greengrass. “Definitely not sunning himself on the beach.”
It is no secret that Matt Damon has taken his role as Jason Bourne seriously, just look at the photo above and it’s obvious that the man has spent some serious time at the gym. It would seem that it was Matt Damon’s dedication to the film that convinced Paul Greengrass to return to the director’s chair.
“You don’t make a movie unless you’re 1000 percent committed to make the best movie we can, and you don’t make this kind of movie unless you think it can be a worthy successor to the other movies we made,” explained Greengrass. “That phenomenal Jason Bourne shape was a segment of intent. It gave all of us the most immense shock, because you think ‘Oh my god. This is weird. This is Jason Bourne, and he’s back. That’s sort of exciting.”
Jason Bourne hits theaters July 29th, 2016.
