Stewart has suggested that Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine will be based on Mark Millar’s comic book.

[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith all the X-Men attention currently on next year’s Apocalypse, Sir Patrick Stewart has slipped some pretty big Wolverine 3 news in under the radar. In an interview with Collider, Stewart confirmed that he will appear alongside Hugh Jackman, who will be playing Wolverine for the last time in the film, and not just in a cameo role.

When asked whether he will be making an appearance in Wolverine 3, Stewart did not hold back in revealing what he knows.

‘I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, and that intrigues me.’

He then addressed the rumor that the film will be based on Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan comic.

‘I think what you say is true. I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great. So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics. And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.’

Old Man Logan centers around Logan and he’s, uh, old. When the US is attacked by supervillains, Hawkeye turns up to lure Logan out of retirement, but FOX doesn’t own the rights to Hawkeye. Could this be where Stewart comes in? Old Man Logan seems the most fitting send off for Jackman, and if this is true, 2017 could see he and Stewart retire from the X-Men franchise together. Sad times for us all.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27th, 2016. Wolverine 3 is scheduled for a March 3rd, 2017 release.
