Pacific Rim 2 finally has writer

[dropcap size=small]J[/dropcap]urassic World director, Derek Connolly has been tasked with writing Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2. Del Toro will oversee the project as a producer rather than a director this time around.

Steven Deknight (Spartacus, Daredevil) will take the helm as the film’s director alongside Thomas Tull (Godzilla, Warcraft).

A few drafts have already been penned by del Toro, it is unknown at this time if Connolly will rework it from the ground up, or simply adapt many of del Toro‘s ideas. Plot details are scarce but it is known that at a certain point in time, the story was to take place many years after the first film in a time where Jaegers are much more common.

Connolly isn’t new to the monster movie scene, he dazzled audiences with Jurassic World and has already been asked to write Jurassic World 2 while also working on the King Kong adaptation Kong: Skull Island.

So far it’s safe to say that Pacific Rim 2 is in good hands, all we can do for now is hope that it lives up to expectations!
