Universal Studios has delivered the killing blow to Pacific Rim 2.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he last time Guillermo del Toro was talking about Pacific Rim 2 the director was promoting his latest film, Crimson Peak. According to the director back in October, Pacific Rim 2 was not cancelled by Universal Studios and he had just submitted the script for budgetary review. Unfortunately, it now seems that Pacific Rim 2 isn’t going to make it to the big screen, at least not within the next few years.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Universal Studios and Guillermo del Toro were attempting to work on and develop Pacific Rim 2 together but, due to unknown circumstances that have not been divulged by both parties, it became clear that the project just wasn’t going to work. Because of this Universal Studios shelved Pacific Rim 2 and now Guillermo del Toro is free to work on his next project, Fantastic Voyage.
