The creator of Spartacus has agreed to take on the next Pacific Rim movie!
[dropcap size=small]F[/dropcap]ollowing Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beachem’s Pacific Rim in 2013, Legendary Pictures has selected Spartacus series creator Steven S. DeKnight for the director of the sequel.
This movie will be DeKnight’s feature directorial debut in the movie industry. He had success as the executive producer and head writer of Netflix’s Daredevil. DeKnight also created the Spartacus for Starz. Both jobs should come in handy for this movie as the first movie grossed $411 million worldwide. 75% of those earnings came from China, where it valued at $111 million.
Jon Spaihts is currently writing the script for the movie, based on the characters created by del Toro and Beachem’s created. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Mary Parent will produce the movie, while Jillian Share will be executive producer.
DeKnight’s previous work includes writing, producing and directing Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville, Angel and Doghouse.
