Blizzard’s latest franchise beta is almost over!
That’s right all you Blizzard fanatics. It was announced in the forums that the open beta of the game (made available to those who pre-ordered it) would be extended until today. It previously was scheduled to end on Monday, May 9, but the decision came after such an overwhelmingly positive response to the game:
“We hope everyone has been enjoying the Overwatch open beta. We certainly have! We’ve loved being able to play alongside you on PC, PS4, and Xbox One,” Blizzard said. “Over the last week, we’ve also had the opportunity to listen to your thoughts and opinions on the game; make improvements based on your reports in these very forums; and collect invaluable data just from you playing normally.”
“We couldn’t be more grateful. So, as a small way of saying ‘thank you’ to our community and the millions of players who’ve logged in so far, we will be extending the open beta by one day on all platforms,” it said. “This means the beta will now conclude on May 10 at 10:00 a.m. PDT in all regions.”
It seems as though this game will become as huge as some of Bilzzard’s other franchises such as Diablo and Warcraft. Overwatch plays similar Team Fortress 2 in its combat system, featuring 21 different playable characters, each with their own unique abilities and personalities. The game also will feature 12 playable maps at launch, along with 4 game modes. Blizzard has said that they do plan to add more content after launch.

Overwatch’s open beta did include everything that will be in the full game, a rare approach to upcoming games now a days. (Most developers typically make only some of the content available to play for the duration of the event)
You can pre-order Overwatch now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with the game launching on May 24!
