President of Activision-Blizzard, Nick Van Dyk recently updated his LinkedIn profile with a description of some unannounced projects, including an animated series for both Overwatch and Diablo, the latter of which is being made exclusively for Netflix. Here is the full quote from the post, which appears to no longer be up:
Executive producer of Diablo, a TV adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s IP, rendered in anime style. The show is currently in pre-production for distribution worldwide through Netflix.
With my creative partner, developed and sold an animated series based Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise.
Neither Netflix or Activision-Blizzard have yet to confirm the details of either animated shows but it should be noted that only Diablo is stated to be coming to Netflix. While we assume Overwatch will likely be there as well, neither Netflix nor Activision-Blizzard have confirmed anything at this point.
With the news of these two Blizzard IPs becoming shows earlier this week, Blizzard’s hands may have been pushed to announce sooner than planned, so be on the lookout for an official announcement sometime soon.
