Here’s our best look yet at the Mad Titan and his gauntlet.
A high-def photo of Thanos, the current final boss of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was released along with the Blu-ray and DVD release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Check it out below.
This image was originally featured in a clip Marvel showed when Avengers: Infinity War-Part 1 and Part II were announced; this is the first time the image will be officially released to the public.
Thanos has made appearances in the mid-credit scenes of both Avengers films, and he was a minor antagonist in Guardians of the Galaxy. Through all of his appearances, he continues to be setup as the scheming and overarching villain of the Marvel Universe, and it looks like the Infinity War films will be the final showdown between the Mad Titan and the Avengers.
In Guardians and Age of Ultron, we learn that the Infinity stones are six objects that have power tied to different aspects of the universe. If someone was to collect them all (and put them in a gauntlet), said person would be unstoppable.
This is exactly what happened in the comic storyline The Infinity Gauntlet, which will act as source material for the upcoming Avengers films. In the comics, Thanos means to use the Infinity Gauntlet as a way to win the affections of Death. That’s right; Thanos is in love with the embodiment of the end of life in the comics. Will this happen in the films? I sure hope so.
Whether or not the Infinity Wars films will follow the comic source material, we still have to wait awhile before they release. Not to mention, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man, and Thor: Ragnarok all come out before these films. What a time to be alive.
Avengers: Infinity War-Part I releases May 4, 2018, and Part II on May 3, 2019.
