It has been confirmed that after this summer’s third season of Hannibal, the TV series will not air a fourth season on NBC.
After a successful three seasons of being on the air, NBC has announced that there will not be a fourth season of the critically acclaimed drama TV series, Hannibal. Over the course of its three seasons, it has gained good reviews and a substantial following from Hannibal fans.
Bryan Fuller, producer of the TV series, claimed to have no plans past season three of the show and is set to start producing a new TV series called American Gods. Fuller was very pleased with the support that he received from NBC despite the shaky reviews the show started off with. A cancellation of the show initially seemed inevitable, but the series ended up being more successful than the producers imagined. The show stars Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and Mads Mkkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
Some word has started to spread of a “#SaveHannibal” campaign led by the executive producers, but no confirmation has been released. Producers are apparently in talks with Netflix and Amazon for a possible continuation. The third season will still air this summer filling the 10 PM time slot on Thursday nights and the show is still set to present in the upcoming Comic-Con.
