Sony reportedly plans to announce the next Spider-Man by June, here are the 5 possible actors who are gunning for the role.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith the clock ticking down, and fans crying out for answers as to who will be the next Spider-Man, Marvel and Sony don’t have much time left to make a decision. Captain America: Civil War is going to start filming this coming June and it is believed that Spider-Man will be making a brief appearance in this movie as well. Following up Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2017. Keeping all this in mind, it makes sense to believe that Sony and Marvel will announce who will play the next iconic web slinger in June.
At this moment, no one is quite sure who will become the next Spider-Man. According to some reports, Sony is going to be making test offers for the role to young actors who would fit the image of the time when Peter Parker is in high school. Coinciding with the picture above, reports indicate that Sony has made test offers to Nat Wolff (The Fault In Our Stars, Paper Towns), Tom Holland (The Impossible), Timothée Chalamet (Homeland), Liam James (Psych), and Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game). Of course, there may be more actors that are unknown at this moment who could have been given a test offer as well.
A lot of information about the next Spider-Man is being kept quiet. What is known at this time is that Drew Goddard, who directed Cabin in the Woods, is the current front-runner for the film. There is a lot of pressure on Sony and Marvel from die-hard fans with this upcoming Spider-Man film. The first three Spider-Man films that starred Tobey Maguire were popular, but did not follow the comics relatively well. When The Amazing Spider-Man was released it received plenty of popular reviews, unfortunately the second movie in the series did not appeal to critics and comic book fans alike. Maybe this time Sony and Marvel will get it right, third times the charm.
Spider-Man swings into theaters July 28th, 2017.
