Kevin Feige Confirms Multiverse Exists in MCU, Says Mysterio’s Multiverse is ‘Full of S**T’

The multiverse is real, and earth-616 is a real thing. But what does that mean for the MCU?

In Far From Home, fans are introduced to Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, the villain of the movie. If you have not seen it, then this is a spoiler, so you have been warned. In the scenes where Mysterio and Spider-Man officially meet for the first time, Beck explains that he is from Earth-616, and the earth that the MCU is on takes place on a whole new earth.

Speaking with Fandango, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige touched base on a really hot topic tying into this subject and relating to Spider-Man: Far From Home and the larger multiverse that co-exists.

Fandango: Fans were excited when this film teased the potential of a multiverse being introduced into the MCU, but it’s just a Mysterio illusion. Does that mean we’ll never see a multiverse in the MCU?

Feige: No, it just means he was full of s**t. I mean, in Doctor Strange, we hear the Ancient One talk about the multiverse, so we’ve already established it as a thing.

The interesting part of these statements is that Earth-616 is actually the universe where the mainstream Marvel comic books take place on. So, for example; the very first appearance of The Amazing Spider-Man all those years ago? That takes place in Earth-616. The MCU, which is in another universe, is technically and officially on Earth-199999.

unless this is really something you care about researching, it may come across super confusing. So try not to rack your brain about it for too long. You might just go crazy.

Yes, we know that Quentin Beck is a fraud and everything he said was a lie, including being from another earth, which means he just made that crap up on the spot. However, it got fans thinking- does a multiverse exist? Well, yeah. We all should know that by now if we were paying attention since Doctor Strange.

If nothing else, Beck’s reference is nothing but pure luck, because earth-616 is very much a real thing, and the comics and even the animated universe of Spider-Man and other Marvel heroes have addressed the earth of the MCU to an extent, meaning that they know about its existence in the multiverse.

It is so far from likely that the MCU in the film will acknowledge earth-616 as a comic book/animated universe outside of this fun easter egg that got fans’ hopes up. Though there are also canon MCU comics, so unless this is really something you care about researching, it may come across as super confusing. So try not to rack your brain about it for too long. You might just go crazy.
