[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t has been over 27 years since a Star Wars comic has been published by Marvel, but thanks to Disney’s acquisition of both Marvel and Lucasfilm, the beloved franchise has officially left Dark Horse and will see a new run next year.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed an exclusive look at artistic genius Alex Ross’s variant cover for the upcoming Star Wars #1, and it is a beauty. The variant pays homage to Howard Chaykin’s cover art for the first issue of the iconic 1977 Star Wars run published by Marvel and is sure to be a collector’s item. The new series will launch in January 2015 and will be penned by Jason Aaron with art by John Cassaday.
