Which character she will portray remains a mystery.
It’s official: Rachel McAdams will star in Doctor Strange.
McAdams, who has recently appeared in Southpaw, and the dreadful second season of True Detective, confirmed to TheWrap that she will indeed star in the upcoming Marvel film, when interviewed at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Since early this summer, rumors of McAdams being attached to Doctor Strange have been floating around the web; and during July, she heavily teased her involvement with the film to several media outlets.
The question that remains is what character McAdams will portray.
If we look to the comic source material, and assume McAdams will be romantically involved with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange, it’s likely she will take the role of Clea.
Clea is the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension, and she is related to Dormammu, a powerful demonic being and enemy of Strange. She, like Doc. S., has magical abilities and cosmic powers.
This is just speculation, and it is very possible McAdams will portray an original character, but this seems more than likely.
McAdams joins a growing cast, including Bardock Cabbagepatch as the titular Doctor, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One.
Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.
