Imagine this: An intergalactic maniac named Annihilus has decided he’s had enough of the universe’s crap and is now launching a galaxy-wide tantrum known as the Annihilation Wave. Naturally, this means it’s time for every Marvel hero with a spaceship—or just really strong legs—to throw hands in a side-scrolling beat-’em-up that spans from downtown New York to the depths of the freakin’ Negative Zone.
Enter Marvel Cosmic Invasion, an upcoming game where Nova, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Phyla-Vell, Captain America, and an ever-expanding roster of costumed punchers team up for a cosmic slobberknocker of galactic proportions. It’s everything you love about those retro arcade brawlers—except now, instead of throwing down in a parking lot outside a pizza place, you’re fighting bug monsters in deep space.
And if that wasn’t enough to launch your inner nerd into orbit, the game’s being developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu—the same glorious minds responsible for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge and the pixelated carnage of Metal Slug Tactics. So expect smooth pixel art, couch co-op chaos, and a lot of button-mashing joy wrapped in nostalgia-fueled bliss.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion is scheduled to land sometime in 2025 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC via Steam—basically every system that isn’t a toaster.
