Put the kettle on and get your tea sets ready, because Captain Britain may be coming to the small screen.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he British equivalent of Captain America, Captain Britain, may be getting his own screen time in the Marvel fold. Chris Lark of Cool Mint Productions recently revealed via twitter that he is working on a highlight reel and concept art to pitch to Marvel, for a potential series in 2017.

As you can see, it’s only a concept in the very early stages, but its already been brewing excitement among fans of the British Superhero, and that can only serve to help their case with Marvel.
Captain Britain first appeared in Marvel comic books back in 1976 as a reaction to Captain America, back when the first comics cost a paltry 10p. Hailing from the old town of Maldon in Essex, Brian Braddock was endowed with extraordinary powers from a magician by the name of Merlyn (thought to be based on the wizard Merlin from the old English fables), thus becoming Captain Britain.
As Captain Britain, Braddock upholds the laws of Britain and fights crime to protect his home country.
Throughout the years, Britain has teamed up with Iron Man, Hawkeye, Spiderman, The Fatanstic Four, and Captain America. Later, he even joined the Avengers at one stage, as well as the Secret Avengers during his crime-fighting career. One of his biggest achievements was quelling a Neo-Nazi movement in Great Britain with the help of Captain America, Nick Fury, and S.T.R.I.K.E commander Lance Hunter.
There’s certainly a lot of material to work with, and it’d be great to see a British counter-part join the Marvel line-up on the small screen. Let’s hope we get some more developments on the potential series soon!
