Shown briefly in the Ant-Man post-credits sequence, the prototype confirms that Evangeline Lilly will suit up for future Marvel installments.
Warning: potential Ant-Man spoilers to follow.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]lthough Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is the hero of Ant-Man, it looks as though he and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) will head into the Avengers as equals. Marvel’s latest post-credits scene sees Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) present his daughter (Hope) with a prototype super-suit, which he and his wife, Janet Van Dyne, had designed years before. If, for some reason, you haven’t seen the movie yet, or you only caught a brief glimpse of the suit in the theater, Marvel has released an official image for you to look at for as long as you want.
There it is; Lilly will be the Wasp to Rudd’s ant. In the comics, both Hank Pym (then Ant-Man) and Janet Van Dyne (the original Wasp) were founding members of The Avengers, and now that movie Pym has deemed his daughter ready, Ant-Man and Wasp will enter the Avengers mix on an even footing. Wasp, meanwhile, will become the third female Avenger, following in the footsteps of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).
Ant-Man is in theaters now.
