Mario Kart 8 launched worldwide on April 28, 2017 allowing new and old fans the opportunity to take on competitors from all over the globe in a competitive race to be the fastest and take home the gold(digitally of course). Mario Kart 8 is the fastest-selling Mario Kart game in franchise history, selling more than 459,000 copies compiled of digital and physical copies on its launch day alone, according to Nintendo.
Previously the record was held by Mario Kart Wii, which sold approximately 433,900 copies when launched back in 2008. In addition to Mario Kart 8 Being the fastest-selling game in the series, it is also the highest-rated game within the past 15 years, with a Metarcritic score of 93 tying Mario Kart: Super Circuit, which released for the Game Boy Advance.
The popularity of Nintendo’s Mario Kart series is proving to be nothing less than enjoyable for friends and family as Switch owners worldwide rev-up their engines and take off into high-speed.
