The next installment Hanger 13’s in the organized crime franchise finally has its first trailer.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hen the word mafia comes to mind, many think of well dressed Italian looking fellows with slicked back hair as we saw in Mafia 2. But its sequel is bringing a whole new aspect of organized crime to the table. Mafia 3 is set in 1968 and follows Lincoln Clay, a half-black, half-white man who lives in the deep south of New Orleans. Clay has had a tough life; he dealt with extreme racism at home his entire life while growing up an orphan. He also fought in the army during the Vietnam War, so he has experienced a lot in his young life.
When Clay returned home from the war, he found a family in the “Black mob”, but loses them after a mob war with the Italians where Clay is shot in the head and then left for dead. Clay vows vengeance against the Italian mob and devastates them, opening up a position for the main organized crime group in the city, a position that he intends to fill.
Clay is not only a well-trained soldier, he also is really good at bringing people together. In Mafia 3, you will be able to recruit other gang leaders, including Cassandra and the Haitians, Burke and the Irish, and the protagonist from Mafia 2, Vito Scaletta, who lends his faction of Italians, to serve as your lieutenants in your empire. Each lieutenant can grant special abilities and can be unlocked depending on how you interact with them
The new look at the series is refreshing and opens up doors for entirely new gameplay concepts and story. And the delivery of the quote “Family ain’t who you born with, it’s who you die for,” is chilling and shows the ferocity of Clay and what he is willing to do.
Mafia 3 is set for release in 2016.
