“Living Long and Prosper” -Spock
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t is indeed a sad day for Star Trek fans and sci-fi fans from around the globe, as the news that Leonard Nimoy, most well-known from his role as the logical, pointy-eared Vulcan from the popular Star Trek franchise, has passed away at the age of 83 at his home in Bel-Air, Los Angeles.
Susan Bay Nimoy confirmed her husband’s death and stated the cause was in relation to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, something that Leonard Nimoy himself announced he had last year. He attributed the disease to his many years of smoking, despite having quit more than two decades before.
Celebrities and internet personalities wasted no time in acknowledging his passing and bidding him the respect the actor deserves.
He created a role that nobody else could play. Multitalented writer, actor, director. A terrific&sweet man. RIP Leonard Nimoy #Spock #StarTrek
