Sources confirm that Josh Brolin has been cast as Thanos in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. This will be Brolin’s first step into the Marvel universe having already starred as the title character in the DC world as Jonah Hex opposite of Megan Fox (you didn’t miss much).

In the Marvel Universe, Thanos is one of the most powerful villains and nemesis of the Avengers (IGN ranked him 47th out of the 100 greatest comic villains of all time). His super strength and genius intellect makes him a worthy adversary to many other heroes outside of the Avengers such as Spider-Man and the even Fantastic Four. He is also the father of Gamora (the green chick in Guardians of the Galaxy) played by Zoe Saldana (which could be teased in GotG and possibly even foreshadow into Avengers: Age of Ultron).

The first Thanos sighting was in a post-credits scene in The Avengers revealing him to be the puppet master behind Lokie’s scheming plans to take over the earth. Was that a spoiler? Well, too bad. You should’ve already seen The Avengers. It’s been like two years, you guys.
