Jackman’s Wolverine to Appear in ‘Deadpool’? Ryan Reynolds Hopes So

Hugh Jackman has shared that ‘Wolverine 3’ will be his final appearance as the iconic character; is he willing to reprise his role in the upcoming ‘Deadpool‘ feature film?

When asked about the possibility of seeing Jackman in the movie, Ryan Reynolds said the following,

“I dunno, we’ll see. It seems like he’s open to it, but it’s gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.”

A most intriguing answer, to say the least. The fact that it isn’t a flat out “no” really has us anxious for the chance to see the two together on screen once more. The last and only other time Deadpool and Wolverine were together on-screen was 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a film that let down fans of both characters at nearly every turn.

In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the “Merc with a Mouth” was reduced to a mere science experiment with an assorted grab-bag of random mutant powers. Oh, and they sewed his mouth shut for some reason. That’s kind of like having Wolverine wearing a catchers mitt on both hands.

Deadpool is being produced by Reynolds, which gives him quite a bit of say in the matter of the direction the film will go. That said, it should be considered that while Jackman is “open” to the idea of appearing in the film, ‘Wovlerine 3’ has been mentioned as his “last” appearance as Wolverine, but may not necessarily be the actor’s next appearance per se. Though that all depends on the source, however nothing necessarily from Jackman’s mouth directly.

Deadpool comes to theaters February 16, 2016.
