[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter making just over a cool $200 million at the box office back in 2012, Lee Child’s Jack Reacher is returning to the big screen in Jack Reacher 2, and Paramount Pictures recently announced that the sequel is due to hit theatres October 21, 2016.
Tom Crusie will be reprising the title role of the ex-military Major of the Police Corps, with the rest of cast being kept under wraps, aside from Cobie Smulders (of How I Met Your Mother fame), who is rumoured to be playing a role alongside Cruise.
The upcoming sequel, which will be based on Child’s novel Never Go back, will be directed by Edward Zwick, who’s taking over from the director of the first instalement, Christopher McQuarrie. Zwick is known for directing other big titles such as Blood Diamond and The Last Samurai.
Child’s novel Never Go Back follows Reacher as he gets recalled back to military HQ, where he discovers his former commanding officer has been arrested.
