Hugh Jackman will be hanging up his mutant claws after he finishes filming Wolverine 3.
[dropcap size=small]L[/dropcap]ast week Wednesday Hugh Jackman made a special appearance on The Dr. Oz Show for its 1000th episode. During this time, Dr. Oz brought up the news that Wolverine 3 could be Hugh Jackman’s last time playing one of the most famous mutants. Hugh Jackman confirmed this by saying,
“It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
Hugh Jackman did not reveal any other details about Wolverine 3 after making it official that it would be his last movie. However, what is currently known about the next movie is that Hugh Jackman is set to team up with James Mangold for Wolverine 3. James Mangold was the director for The Wolverine, which hit theaters two years ago in 2013. In addition to this, Michael Green is apparently working on the screenplay. But don’t worry! There is some good news to be had. Hugh Jackman is rumored to appear in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, which hits theaters May 27th, 2016. That gives everyone some consolation knowing that we will get to see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as the Wolverine at least two more times.
Wolverine 3 arrives March 3rd, 2017.
