[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]ased on the popular book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is easily one of the most popular shows out there right now. With season 4 having wrapped up so recently, news of the upcoming season is pouring in, and it looks like a few primary and popular characters will not be making an appearance. That’s right, Bran Stark and Hodor will not be featured in season 5 of Game of Thrones on HBO.
As fans of the book series know, A Song of Ice and Fire is aiming to completing after seven total books, with five out and a sixth being worked by Martin. The show, however, has caught up to the books in some sense, including Bran and Hodor’s story lines. Because of this, the next season will need to wrap up other loose ends leaving an absence from some characters who have not been seen.
A few of other characters have not made an appearance in the series of books as well as the show, such as The Hound after his battle with Brienne of Tarth, and Osha and Rickon also have not been seen after they departed ways with Hodor and Bran to seek refuge with House Umber.
Hodor is played by Kristian Nairn, who moonlights as a DJ at popular night clubs (we were surprised too), and as he will have at least this next season of, he will be busy on his Rave of Thrones tour and can be found in NY during the NY Comic Con.
Game of Thrones Season 5 is set to air in April of 2015 featuring the fourth and fifth books of the series. While we wait for George R.R. Martin to finish up the book series (he was two more to go), it will be interesting to see what changes will be made to season 5 of the popular HBO series.
