HIDIVE, a leading anime streaming service under the AMC Network, has unveiled its latest summer offering: the exclusive simulcast of Plus-Sized Elf, a comedic series set to premiere in July. Adapted from the popular seinen manga titles by Synecdoche, Plus-Sized Elf promises a season brimming with laughter and larger-than-life entertainment.
“We’re thrilled to add Plus-Sized Elf to our summer simulcast lineup,” exclaimed John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “Fans can anticipate an abundance of laughs and comedic moments in this larger-than-life comedy. Get ready for some hilarious fun!”
Plus-Sized Elf follows the story of Naoe-kun, a massage therapist, who finds himself faced with an unusual patient at the end of his workday. Despite her elf-like appearance, this enchanting lady has a penchant for junk food, leading to a body that defies typical elf stereotypes. As Naoe-kun embarks on a mission to help her shed the excess weight, hilarity ensues.
The series is based on the original manga titles, Plus-Sized Elf and Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping!, both created by Synecdoche. With eight and three volumes respectively, these manga titles have captured the hearts of fans since their launch in December 2016 and October 2021.
Plus-Sized Elf is published in Dokodemo Young Champion by Akita Shoten, with English language versions available from Seven Seas Entertainment. Directed by Toshikatsu Tokoro, the series features writing by Yuki Takabayashi and production by Elias.
